Submission guidelines

Last updated / Oct 8, 2017

Please read the guidelines carefully before submitting to wildness.

wildness accepts submissions of poetry, fiction and nonfiction, and considers work in most styles, forms or genres. For a better idea of our preferences we always recommend taking a look through the Archive section.

We currently publish our issues bimonthly (February, April, June, August, October and December) and read submissions on a rolling basis—all submitted work will simply be considered for the next open issue.

For poetry, please send no more than 5 poems, and for fiction and nonfiction, please limit the submission to 3,000 words.

(For longer works, please consider submitting to Platypus Press.)

Please only submit previously unpublished work. Also, whilst simultaneous submissions are great, please mention it in your email, and should your work be accepted elsewhere (yay!) please do let us know as soon as possible.

All work should be attached in a single .doc/docx or PDF file, and your email must include a brief, third-person bio alongside a short cover letter. Please note: We will disregard any submissions pasted directly into the email, attached as multiple files, or that contain images in the email or attachment.

We aim to reply within a month of receipt (though usually quicker), please do query us if it’s been longer.

Whilst the owner of the work retains copyright upon publication, you agree to grant wildness first serial/electronic rights, as well as electronic archival rights (in perpetuity). You also agree that if the work is published subsequently (online or in print), credit to wildness is given.

Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to offer payment, though we are always looking for ways to alter this. If you would like to help us towards this goal, please consider donating through PayPal.me. For now, however, we do nominate for most major prizes and continue to promote contributors after publication.
