It is good to be strange
& if you are lucky you will

not linger in the mirror
but find yourself in song

casting about an imagined
pond for what shimmers

back       the body always
on its way out of the frame

out of the golden glow
endemic to a phase of youth

think of the light as it summers
through a flock of leaves

willow or cottonwood
isn’t it more beautiful then

in that scattered mercurial
installment brightening the dirt
