‘New Poetry by Queer Indigenous Women’ by Natalie Diaz

— Reneé Bibby

In my Mojave culture, many of our songs are maps, but not in the sense of an American map. Mojave song-maps do not draw borders or boundaries, do not say this is knowable, or defined, or mine.

Natalie Diaz’s curated collection of poetry doesn’t need more of an introduction than the one she’s already provided; my voice isn’t necessary in this discussion except to serve as a small signal boost. This will be a new, bi-monthly feature at Lit Hub. Bookmark it alongside the Wilds and tune into powerful poetry. This issue includes poetry by Noʻu Revilla, Janet McAdams, Lehua M. Taitano, Deborah A. Miranda, and Arianne True.
